<span class="iconify mr-1" data-icon="mdi:arrow-left"></span>===== Tower Quarter ===== ==== The Tower ==== {{the_tower.jpeg?200 |}} At the heart of Block 2845, there lies a skyscraper which rises above all the rest: the Tower. The Tower is the home of government activity within the block and provides a space for Psychopomp officials to live and work. On the top floor of this sleek high-rise, the offices of the two Invigilators can be found -- close together and yet worlds apart. Beneath them lie the open-plan workspaces of the Guides and Technicians, although these officials usually spend their time out and about around the block and in their own places of work. The rest of the top floors of the Tower are used by Administrators who help enact the business of government. However, the Tower is not only the workplace and administrative hub for the multitude of officials in Block 2845 -- it is also a home. The Invigilators live at the top of the residential floors -- their job often requires them to be in the office at any hour, so it makes sense to be nearby. Further down the building, the other officials and their partners have their own places of residence. Although this arrangement may seem unusual, many love the convenience of the Tower and the close connections it fosters between the only people who can truly understand the officials' lives of service and self-sacrifice. ==== The Buffet ==== {{ buffet.jpg?200|}} Take a tray, find a ladle and help yourself to some grub. Sure, you don't have to eat food anymore, given that you're dead and all, but that doesn't mean you should deny yourself the social benefits of a dedicated communal mess hall. Meal times have a way of uniting people, don't they? So find yourself a table, sit yourself down, and strike up some conversation. It's open all hours, and its free to everyone, so what's to lose? The buffet can be found in a sterilised looking white building in the Tower Quarter, and in the absence of any formal signage it has been called many things -- the canteen, the cafeteria, the food court, the refectory. But no matter the name, one thing is clear: it's a pretty adequate place to socialise while eating lukewarm food from long metal containers. Don't be put off by the unending buzz of the fluorescent lights or the prison-like seating -- there have been some riotously good times here, as the catering staff will be sure to regale you with. ==== Cuisine Du Seuil ==== {{fine_dining.jpg?direct&200 |}} Is the communal cafeteria too- too what? Too loud? Too busy? Too- too poor for you? Of course it is, when you’re a good citizen who really tries to ascend, nothing is too good for you. If you would just come through to Cuisine du Seuil, the Threshold’s fine dining establishment, we’ll surely have something that is much better suited to your tastes. Here, you have vaguely French, slightly snooty waiters, who will serve you only the finest of meals from the most quality ingredients, things you probably never got to try on earth and that you’ve always been curious about. A privilege reserved only for the upper-echelons of society, the Threshold’s most hard-working citizens, this fine establishment will make you fall in love with food again, even if you don’t strictly have to eat it. Legal? Well, strictly speaking, it’s not legal, but what’s the harm in some good food? Why should you, a hard-working citizen, have to suffer just because everyone else has to? After all, there’s something so enticing about quality. So come down to Cuisine du Seuil, and if you see any officials here, make sure to look in the other direction.
