======Ascensions====== After the recent ascension of Diego, I (Charlie Show) have taken over writing this Biweekly Bulletin. His positive, adventurous presence in the Block will be sorely missed, but we should all be glad to have known him. Additionally, Lumière Amélie Rose Aimée De La Tour has also ascended recently, and we should take this time to reflect on the contributions she has made to the Block. ======Housing====== The project to equalise the standard of housing in the Block is making good progress. We are all grateful to the volunteers who have moved into lower-quality housing and rest assured we are working our hardest to ensure this matter is resolved quickly. ======Governance====== Following suggestions from citizens at our previous meeting, I am making reforms to the role of Invigilator. From now on, the Block will hold votes on important issues and I will publish all the information I have received as Invigilator. My role will become far more managerial, fulfilling essential requirements to maintain the pleasant lifestyle in the Block, and important political decisions will be taken by citizens. ======Justice====== There has been a disappointing increase in crime disrupting our community recently. Most recently, Bishop Antonius stabbed a man at our previous meeting, and a group broke into the Tower and attempted to blow it up. As this is an important decision, it is not my place to determine the punishment for these acts of violence, so together we will determine the issue as a community during our upcoming meeting. At 20:30, all who wish to participate will gather to discuss and vote on the consequences for these crimes. I pledge to be completely impartial and place this decision entirely in your hands. ======Smoke====== I regret to inform you that, as I’m sure you have noticed, a cloud of cannabis smoke has appeared in the Block. This unfortunate incident appears to have been caused by a citizen (or group of citizens) who were attempting to grow a supply of the crop, which then caught fire. I encourage anyone with information about the owner of this farm to come forward and share it, so that the community may determine a punishment. I would like to remind everyone that breathing in the Threshold is entirely optional, so there is no need for anyone to ingest these foul fumes. To prevent similar incidents which harm the wellbeing of our citizens, Technicians have begun to install security cameras in public areas in the Block. This should help us to identify the culprits of crimes like this and the fire in the library, to ensure that they can swiftly be brought to democratic justice. ======Invigilator Materials====== It’s been a busy time, but I’ve begun to go through the archives of information held by Psychopomp, so that I can publish it here for you. I hope you find these documents useful. More will follow in future weeks, and of course I am always happy to answer your questions. //Attached to the noticeboards where the Bulletin is published is a booklet containing several dozen pages of dense text. Titled ‘Invigilator Information Release 1’, it contains a variety of statistics and detailed descriptions of the different roles in the Block and key characteristics for those chosen. // //The statistics are new but not very exciting: ‘Current number of citizens: 519’, ‘Number of emergency phone calls: 1’, ‘Total number of ascensions in history of Block: 874, 587, 473’, ‘Total number of Invigilators in history of Block: 437 219.’ // //The guidance for choosing Invigilators, Technicians, Guides and Administrators is perhaps a little more interesting. Invigilators should (amongst other things) have an excellent record of good behaviour, have shown a commitment to ascension, have an ability to lead others and multitask, and care deeply about the wellbeing of others. Technicians should think logically and are recommended to have a background in science. Guides should be caring, friendly and have an ability to connect with people from different backgrounds. Administrators should be efficient and hardworking. For the amount of information which is published, little of it is interesting or surprising.// ======Another Notice====== //Pinned to the noticeboard, entirely separately from the Biweekly Bulletin, and sent to all your emails is the following essay by Damien Borne entitled [[metaphysical_ethical_and_existential_concerns_in_the_threshold|‘Metaphysical, Ethical and Existential Concerns in the Threshold’.]]// [[metaphysical_ethical_and_existential_concerns_in_the_threshold|Damien Borne's Essay]]
